The Ford GPA was an amphibian vehicle based on the well knows jeep from Worldwar Two. In case of an allied landing from sea and when crossing rivers a sailing jeep could proof its value. The design howover was not a great success; the vehicle voertuig was to heavy and hard to handle both on sea and on land.
The Seep (Sea Jeep) was however the base for its successfull successor, the DUKW. GPA stands for:
- G from government
- P for its 80"wheelbase
- A for amfibian.
